Tug of War - A New Olympic Sport?

Here is our persuasive argument about including tug-of-war in the Olympics. We all shared our ideas and wrote this argument together. We are sure you will agree with us.

WALHT: share our opinions and back them up with evidence.

Tug of war... what  great sporting entertainment. Every time We've seen a tug-of-war there has been excitement and cheering and the air has been rippled with laughter. We believe tug-of-war should be in the Olympic games. Don't you want the Olympics to be full-on entertainment for everyone.

Firstly,  tug-of-war shows amazing strength. Weight-lifting is a competition of strength and so is tug-of-war so why isn't tug-of-war in the Olympics when Weightlifting is?

Why was tug-of-war ever banned? Did you know that from 1900 to 1920, tug-of-war was in the Olympics. So why isn't it in the Olympic Games now? Tug-of-war was the greatest sport in the Olympics until it was cancelled.

We believe tug-of-war is an extremely skilled sport. It should be part of the Olympic Games again. It takes a lot of training, thinking and skills. Competitors spend hours and hours working on their strength and getting ready.

Team work is important because you win as a team not as an individual in tug-of-war. You want your kids to get inspired to work as a team don't you? It takes a good team to compete and work together to win. The aim of the game is to challenge another team so it is all about working together.

If tug-of-war is in the World Indoor Championships, why isn't it in the Olympic Games? Go to Youtube and you can see for yourself various competitions where tug-of-war is held.

Lastly tug-of-war is a entertaining sport. Can you imagine the pride your country would have if your tug-of-war team were the champions. Imagine the parties and parades and celebrations.

I am sure, after you have read all of our reasons, you must agree that tug-of-war belongs in the Olympic Games alongside other sports of strength, teamwork and skill.
