The Treaty

Today we had two people sign our treaty. Well maybe signed is a little bit misleading. They added their thumb print to our agreement. Dawn was away week one and Pasha joined us last week so now everyone in Room 11 had agreed to abide by our treaty.

This is an agreement we have made as a class. In Room 11 we agree to look after ourselves and others, to respect other people as well as ourselves and our potential. Our class treaty is linked our rights and responsibilities in the classroom. It is also linked to the behaviours that make successful learners. If someone puts themselves down, their fixed mindset and negative thoughts will get in the way of their learning just like it would if they said something negative to another person.

When we were creating our own treaty we learnt about the Treaty of Waitangi and what it was supposed to mean for all the people of New Zealand.

  1. I know from being in Room 11, that you are already amazing, good at respecting your peers and endeavour to be successful learners. It is great that you have this document to get you back on track whenever you need a reminder-we all make a bad choice from time to time.

I am looking forward to learning from you, the things that you do and say, to help you have a growth mindset.
