Rained Out Cricket

On the second of  March 2018 some hard working cricket  kids were chosen to go to the Otara cricket tournament at Kolmar in Papatoetoe.

In the morning it was grey and a bit drizzly but Miss Peters said that there had been no cancellation so we got changed and ready to go.

As soon as we were energetic and ready, we power walked with pride through horrible weather.

When we arrived, the team stopped with exhaust begging for precious air.

Then Miss McAree told us to train. So we trained, but we had a swim in the pouring rain. It was so heavy that we ran underneath a big tree which did not change the fact that we were still getting wet. Then we ran to the Papatoetoe Club where we stayed dry. We waited for about 30 minutes… Suddenly we had some information from Miss McAree that our tournament was cancelled.

As we were about to walk home we started thinking about having McDonalds and our dream came true. We got an delicious ice-cream, some of us were slow eaters so it was a while before we started to walk back to school.

When we were just across the road from school we were bummed out that it was cancelled, we moved, depressed and floppy, the rest of the way.

The good thing was that the tournament was not cancelled, just postponed so Monday morning we’ll be off again with our fingers crossed for good weather.
