Blake-  "Wonder is an excellent book. Anyone can read it but I would recommend it for 8+. August Pullman is the main character. He is a deformed homeschooled kid who is starting middle school. He starts off unliked but slowly becomes popular and he meets an enemy too. I like how the author R J Palacio had all the character's sides to the story and how we could see all their opinions on this new kid. This book is exciting, humorous and in some parts sad. This book is very well written and is kind of similar to the movie."

Triumph - "Wonder is one of the most magnificent books ever! It's about a boy named August Pullman. He goes to a school called Beecher Prep. August is in middle school. He is doing very well. His favorite class is science. August gets bullied by a boy called Julian. Julian leaves mean notes in August’s locker and sometimes mean letters. Jack is August's best friend and he is so nice to August but Via, August’s big sister, is a bit overprotective of August. Via’s boyfriend Justin is very good at the violin but Via gets left out of a lot of things because of August. He needs a lot of their parent’s attention. August was home schooled most of his life so going to Beecher Prep was a whole new thing. When he went to camp people he didn’t know became his friends. Not just Jack but Miles Amos and Henry."

Kelly - "Wonder is an emotional book. This book has different chapters, each character has their own chapter. I recommend Wonder to 9 year olds up to 18 year olds. August Pullman was bullied a lot. He had a rough time during school and a lot of people call him a freak because of his face but he was born like that and he had had lots of surgeries. It is his first time at school. My favourite part of the book is when Jack sticks up for Auggie because it makes me happy that Jack doesn’t care about Auggie’s  face anymore. This book made me feel very emotional because I think the author made this story really emotional so the person who is reading Wonder can feel what it is like. By the way the author’s name for Wonder is RJ Palacio."

Book Review of R.J. Palacio's 'Wonder'Junior - "Wonder is an amazing book about a boy named Auggie Pullman who tries to blend with other students but he has a deformed face that makes students feel uncomfortable near him. The story is told in different chapters with the  different people in the story like Summer, Jack, Justin telling us their tales. What I like about the book is that Auggie has been a brave kid who has been through a lot of surgeries. Other students first talked behind his back, whispering secrets about his face and then the students started to get used to him. This book makes me feel emotional because of how it goes. I think that this book should be recommended to people aged  9+  because it is  great, for adults and senior schools to learn from the past to make the future and because this might be the best and most emotional book ever. If you have seen the movie Wonder I’m sure you can imagine Auggie’s face in the book as well as in the movie. The author of Wonder is RJ Palacio."
Mele Uhatahi - "Wonder is an amazing and inspiring book because it has a message for everyone inside the story. Even though someone looks different you shouldn’t judge them because you never know if they have something in them that is nice and loving. When I read the book it made me feel sad that his face was deformed and people would laugh and stare at him. I like this book because it has a nice ending to it and Julian admits that it's all his fault. I would recommend this to children 10+ because I think anyone younger than 10 wouldn’t understand. I would describe Auggie Pullman as a brave, kind person because he doesn’t  tell the principal that people make front of him just because he has a deformed face. Auggie’s school is Beecher Prep and his principal's name is Mr.Tushman. At the end there was prize giving and Mr.Tushman said that there was a medal for someone and the medal was for August Pullman and everyone was happy and clapping and cheering."
Mele Tupou- "The book Wonder is an amazing and astonishing book that tells us about a boy named August Pullman and how people treat him. This book is recommended for 10 - and older because anyone younger wouldn’t understand what some of the words mean. August Pullman is a new student at Beecher Prep and he has been home-schooled his whole life because of his face. His face is deformed and he has been through more than 27 surgeries. I liked the bit when Julian apologises about all the stuff he has done including calling August a ‘freak’ and putting heartbreaking notes in his locker. The book explained how August was the ‘odd one out’ and what it’s like to have August in the world. The most heartbreaking bit was when their dog Daisy died and it made me tear up just a little bit. August Pullman has a sister named Olivia and she has a boyfriend named Justin. Via had a play that she had to go to and she didn’t tell her parents about it. My impression of the book is that it is fantastic because this book is very detailed and whoever wrote the book never left anything out. The lesson I learnt from this story is to never give up being yourself if you look ‘different’ and never judge a book by its cover."

Paehangi - "Wonder is a wonderful book that touches your heart. I recommend that it is for 9+ . It is about a kid named August Pullman.  August is a kid who goes to a school called Beecher Prep. He is getting bullied by another kid named Julian and his other friends. Julian left some awful notes in Auggie's locker to make him feel that he’s not safe around Beecher Prep and Auggie left some notes in his locker too but not awful like Julian's. August has a nickname which is Auggie and he has a friend named Jack who always looks after Auggie and he punched Julian on his mouth because he was calling Auggie a freak! Auggie has an older sister named Olivia Pullman. Olivia is a teenager who goes to high school and cares about her little brother. Olivia has a nickname which is Via and a friend Miranda who is also a teenager calls Auggie “Major Tom”. The part I like is when Auggie leaves notes in Julian's locker as well. Remember  - Don’t judge a book by its cover!"

Bryce- "Wonder is the best heartwarming book I've read. It's about a deformed kid named Auggie. He's just started Middle School and goes through lots of things. He makes some friends like Jack, a boy who defends Auggie by punching the heck out of Julian.  My favourite characters are Jack and Auggie and my least favorite is Julian who writes a letter like "I bet your mother wishes you’d never been  born. You should do every one a favour and die." They're  best pals and write letters like “Julian you’re so hot, Summer doesn't like you, but I  want to have your babies! Smell my armpits, love Beulah.” Summer is Jack’s crush and he even says “Since when did Summer get so hot?” That was the weirdest part for me.  I recommend it to people aged  9+ because some people may not like it or can't read!"

Akia - "Wonder is a great book and my reason why is because it has a lot of detail and it was emotional. I think that 9-13 year olds would love this book. August is the main character and he is a boy with a deformed face and he has to be brave every day because most of the kids make fun of his face behind his back. There is a kid called Julian and he is the bully in this book. August makes a friend at school named Jake Will and his new friend helps defend August from the bullies. His sister Via is very supportive of  Auggie and protects him like a big shield. My favorite part in the book is when everyone is being kind to August after what happened at the camp and when Julian's grandma told her story of another deformed boy named Julian and in the end it slowly returned to normal. We learn from this book to not judge a book by its cover."

Drel - "Wonder was amazing. Many people say it is a heart touching book but my reason is that it can cause emotion. It’s about a kid named August Pullman who faces struggles in middle school because he is deformed but his parents struggle as well. Every day at Beecher Prep, kids from his school call him a freak and he hates that the other popular kids at school called him freak but one day a popular kid becomes friends with August Pullman. August was on the unpopular side of school. He has a sister called Via. Her long name is Olivia and she is now in High School. Via has a boyfriend named Justin.  Both Justin and Via go to the same high school. One day Julian started writing notes to the deformed kid August like “Why did you even come to Beecher Prep freak?” and “I wish that you parents never gave birth to you and  let you die."  I like the author RJ Palacio. My favourite characters are August and Jack, Justin, Via, Summer and  Charlotte. My rating out of 10 is 10. This is an awesome book and I look forward to watching the movie to see how great it is. I think that it will be cool."

AJ- "Wonder is an amazing book. It is really emotional. I would recommend it for kids 9+. August Pullman has a deformed face and he just started middle school. He started to get bullied by Julian and his friends. Every day August gets bullied but his new friend Jack always looks after August and stands up for him. August has an older sister named Via and she loves her grandma. Miranda is Via’s friend. She really likes August and wishes she was August's sister. Mr Tushman is Beecher Preps principal. It is humorous and sometimes sad. My favourite character is Jack. He is a really nice guy and I like that he always stands up for Auggie."
Wonder: The Julian Chapter by R J Palacio - Penguin Books New Zealand

Cloe - "I like the book Wonder because it teaches me not to bully other kids. Auggie was deformed and he went to a new school called Beecher Prep. Auggie had some friends whose names are Jack and Summer. Auggie went to camp and some 7th graders beat up Auggie and Jack."

Efraim - "Wonder is about a young boy named August. He has a deformed face and he is sometimes shy. There is a bully called Julian Albans and he calls August a freak most of the time. The book is so emotional that it makes people cry. Auggie goes to a school called Beecher Prep. He was kind of scared because it was his first time at a school. He was introduced to three students Jack, Charlotte and Julian.  Jack and Charlotte were nice to August but Julian bullied August and said “Did you get burned in a fire?” Charlotte and Jack told Julian to stop and shut up so he did then a few seconds later Julian kept talking about August. Auggie which is short for August has an older sister named Via her long name is Olivia and she has a boyfriend named Justin. He is a musician. What I like about the book is that Auggie went from being an unpopular boy to a popular boy. The book can make some people cry and it was sad but it made me think of my dog Scooby. This book should be 7+ because it is kind of violent with a little bit of sadness when Daisy the dog dies. It is cool how each character has their own section in the novel like Jack Will, Via Pullman, Justin, Miranda, Julian Albans, Summer and Auggie Pullman."

Locklyn - "Wonder is an amazing and inspiring book. It's all about how a boy called August Pullman was bullied by all of the children but mainly this kid called Julian in his new school called Beecher Prep. Mr Tushman is their principal. We find out about how August got more attention from his parents and how that makes his older sister Via feel left out.  They only bully August because he has a deformed face, but he's made a friend called Julian since he started school. He's  been through hard times since he was a baby and had to have a lot of surgeries at such a young age. I think it is a heart touching book. I recommend that kids that are 8 years old and over should read the book because some people need to learn how to not judge someone by their looks."

Mary -"Wonder is one of my favourite books. There are so many amazing people in high school and the story is about August Pullman who sometimes gets judged by the other school students. When we were reading Wonder I felt so excited because it was so much fun and it was so cool to read. When we were reading the book, one of my favourite parts of the book was when the children at Beecher Prep was bullying the other August and I felt very sad that he was  getting bullied. Auggie is a great student but his old best friend Jack sometimes judged him.But if I was in the book called wonder I would never bully anyone I will just help the. The book ends when Auggie won the Beecher prep award.

Matthew- Wonder is amazing and it is inspiring to kids and high school students. Wonder would be a great book for children aged 7-13. Auggie's school's  name is Beecher Prep. On Auggie's first day at Beecher Prep he had three  friends named Jack,Charlotte and Julian. Auggie is a hard person to be because he gets bullied by Julian and he is judged by other students. When we were reading I felt excited to read the book because it was fun and it was funny and cool. I hope other people love Wonder. In the book Julian and his other friends thought that Auggie was a monster and was trying to eat them.

Peyton - Wonder is an awesome book. It is about a boy named Auggie Pullman. One day Auggie got to go to this wonderful school called Beecher Prep. On his first day of school he got to meet three kids named Jack, Charlotte and Julian. If you didn't know Julian is the school bully. Auggie’s nickname is the freak. He has a sister named Via and she is in college which basically means she's older than him. Since Via has been at her school she met this talented boy named Justin. Whenever Auggie goes to school he gets bullied. He'll look in his locker and notice that there's a note with a picture of him saying "Go back from where you came from freak!" Julian got sent to Mr Tushman's office. He was in so much trouble and couldn't go on their camp trip. While Auggie was on his trip, Via and Justin were all alone. At the end of the year Auggie got called up because he won the Henry Ward Beecher award.

Raquel - Wonder is an amazing book that will hook you right in when you read it. It’s very interesting and has a lot of shouting, it felt a bit teary but just say someone is chopping onions in here. The main character’s name is August Pullman,  nicknamed Auggie. His best friends and friends are Jack, Summer, Charlotte and his sister Via. August goes to Beecher Prep. He used to be home-schooled  because of his face and he used to wear an astronaut's helmet to cover his face. The bully Julian was calling Auggie a freak and that was his nickname from school and he wrote mean letters to him like he was from Star Wars  and was Dark Vader.  I like the part when Julian wrote  a sorry letter to August Pullman and the part when Jack punches Julian in the face for being mean to Auggie and that's what I call friendship.I recommend this book for people 10 years or even older and please please Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Tyrayna- Wonder is one of my favourite books. It talks about a young boy that has a deformed face. His name is Auggie short for August Pullman.  It starts off with little Auggie starting at a school for the first time. The school is called Beech Prep. He showed me that he had courage on his side and he was brave. He also has an older sister called Via. What I like about Via is that she doesn't really care about Auggie's looks. She doesn’t care if Auggie takes all the time with their parents. That shows me that she cares a lot about her little brother and it tells me to take good care of my siblings well. The book does start to get emotional. Don’t judge a book by its cover is its message.
