Bridges made of spaghetti - what a strange idea. Today we had a group challenge: to make a bridge using spaghetti and marshmallows.
We looked at some photos of real life bridges and some photos of other bridges made of spaghetti. We noticed that a lot of them used triangles and pyramids to make them strong.
Our criteria:
We looked at some photos of real life bridges and some photos of other bridges made of spaghetti. We noticed that a lot of them used triangles and pyramids to make them strong.
Our criteria:
- It is 30cm long.
- It needs to be stable enough to hold a matchbox car so it can travel across the bridge once pushed.
- You can only use spaghetti and marshmallows.
- You need to be able to lift your bridge to the test area.
- Your only equipment is a pair of scissors.
- The time limit 35 minutes.
Whilst not all of our bridges were "successful" we had fun working together and eating the marshmallows at the end.
What great, co-operative learning. I love the video showing all of your creative bridges. Ka pai Room 11 tamariki!
