Samoan Language Week Opening Assembly

This week is Samoan Language Week . This morning we had an assembly to open the week. Before school we went to the hall to help Perisie  setup by hanging up the pule tasi on the wall and putting the ula ngifo on the stage. We headed off to get changed.  Then we went back to the hall and  practice  saying our pepa in front of the whole school and sorted out who was speaking first and practiced our pese. When the whole school came in we started the pese with Sotieria leading us off with Ieova Lava Oe. We sang  the Samoan  National Anthem with everyone standing up.There were a few items. The little children stood up in the front saying Talofa to some teachers while Destiny, Adelaide and I got up and gave them a ula.

We practiced a lot of times preparing for this day. Singing the song and learning it was quite a challenge but we got it in the end. The song was called Aperamo Tama which was a very funny song which involves a lot of physical actions. We stood up on the stage to teach the school the actions of the song and then we did it all together. We set a challenge for them this week to learn the words and actions to the song. Whole classes will have to stand up and perform in front of the whole school. After that we went to the side of the stage while a group of girls danced for the school.

On Friday we will have another assembly where we will sing and dance and speak in front of the school.
