Last week most of us went to Kiwi Kapers. This is a concert where the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra plays and the Dust Palace Circus Performance Company have created a performance that weaves a story through the different pieces of music the orchestra is playing. For many of the children in Room 11, it was their first time seeing and hearing a real life orchestra. The circus performance had our hearts in our hands at times. They had us tricked into thinking that they were going to fall but of course it was all part of the act.
Brian - Last week on Thursday the seniors went to a show called Kiwi Kapers at the Vodafone Events Center. When we first got there we had a play around outside then we were called to go inside and the workers sat us in our seats. Two minutes after the show started, we heard some of the sections of the orchestra with different instruments and then they started playing. Some of the songs I didn’t know. During the songs there was some acrobatics. It was the best trip of Term 4 yet!
Kiwi Kapers was very fun because it had fantastic music like the drums and the violin although I thought the trumpet was the best. I wish we could go again. Kane
Kiwi Kapers was fun and the music was cool because it sounded sooooooo good. The flutes
were amazing and the drummers were too and the fantastic violin players were even better than
all the instruments in the world. I wish I could go there again. Esila
Last week on Thursday most of the seniors got to go on a trip to Kiwi Kapers at the Vodafone
Events Center. Before it started we went outside and had fruit and did roly polys down a very
big hill. Then we started to line up and went back inside. We sat down for a while until we
were allowed to go in.My favourite part was when all the instruments were playing all at once
which made it very loud so everyone could hear it. Merceius
Before we went inside we all went up the hill and rolled back down. Kiwi Kapers was the best
orchestra I had ever heard but the best part was when the Goblin was on the rope and
nearly fell down but luckily he caught the rope my favourite instrument was the drums and
the flute. Allando
If you think that hanging from great heights on ropes and other objects sounds like a fun thing to do, you can go to classes to learn how it is done. https://thedustpalace.co.nz/
If you want to see and hear more from our amazing Auckland orchestra, you can visit their website to see when they are performing. Sometimes they do concerts for free. https://www.apo.co.nz/
As a completely random observation, some of us noticed that our pupils had become larger in the darkened auditorium. So... did you know When you're in dim light, it gets bigger to let more light in. When you're in bright light, it shrinks to protect your eye and keep light out. When your pupil shrinks (constricts), it's called miosis. You can see this for yourself if you cover your eyes softly to block the light then quickly remove your hand and look in the mirror. Or you could do it with a partner. Our bodies are so amazing.
Check out how big Brian's pupil is:
Check out your pupil Brian!
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed watching the Dust Palace perform with the APO playing music which complemented and helped them tell their story-very clever indeed! Both groups of people are incredibly gifted and talented-it's wonderful what you can achieve when you work hard!
