The Art Exhibition

Our Amazing Art

The last few weeks have been busy for all the classes at BMPS. We have been working really hard to have our art ready for the Art Exhibition.

In Room 11 the New Zealand artist who inspired our work was Raewyn Harris. We loved the colours and landforms she has created.

Raewyn was born in Waipukurau in the Hawke’s Bay. She is a teacher. Her artworks are inspired by the local landscape, the vineyards, coastline, hills, rivers, trees and the sea.

You can see her beautiful art works on her website  http://www.raewynharris.nz/

The first piece of art we did was using sketch pencils. We used shading to highlight areas, giving our work depth and interest.

The second piece of art was done using aqueous colouring pencils. We chose colours that went together and blended them with water.

The third and final piece used dye to blend colours. We moved our paper around to get the colours to “bleed” into one another. The finishing touch was the trees which were added using Indian ink. The roots were created by blowing through a straw to make movement and the trees were painted with a thin paintbrush.

Check out the great job we did.
